
An Indigenous twist on a popular type of sandwich has people from around the Edmonton area lining up for a taste.
Bannock Broz’s combination of steak, green peppers, onions and cheese has had customers drooling for more since starting up last year.
One Sherwood Park family says driving out to the Enoch Community Centre to eat the Philly Cheesesteak from Bannock Broz is worth the drive from one side of Edmonton to another.
“I came out here and we’re addicted,” Jason Douglas told CTV News Edmonton on Sunday.
“We come back every weekend.”
The bannock is the star of the show.
“This is deadly,” Lisa Douglas said. “It’s light, it’s fluffy, it’s got the flavours, everything.”
Last spring, owner Joseph Rucchin was running Bannock Broz from a pop-up tent.then a food trailer.
As his business grew in popularity, Rucchin moved in November into a more permanent home at Enoch Cree Nation west of Edmonton.
